Volunteer Opportunities

Vestry: “The vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property.” An Episcopal Dictionary of the Church. Trinity’s Vestry consists of nine members who serve three-year terms. New members are elected at the annual meeting.

Time Commitment: The Vestry meets as a whole once a month, with occasional special meetings throughout the year.
 

Finance Committee: The Finance Committee meets once a year to draft the annual budget.  They review the draft of the annual audit.

Time Commitment: One meeting a year to draft the budget.

 

Treasurer: Prepares financial report for the vestry, consults on a regular basis with the church administrator on financial matters, signs checks on a weekly basis.

Time Commitment: 5 to 7 hours a month.

 

Stewardship & Generosity Committee: The Stewardship and Generosity committee plans and presents the annual pledge campaign in coordination with the rector and senior warden. 

Time Commitment: 10 1-hour meetings per year. Special projects: 2 to 4 hours per project (2 to 3 a year).
 

Building & Grounds Committee: The Building & Grounds Committee assists the Junior Warden in attending to immediate problems with Trinity’s building and physical infrastructure as well as thinking about long term improvements. 

Time Commitment: The Committee meets about 6 times a year.  

 

Lay Delegate: Delegates attend the annual diocesan convention in November.  They also attend a monthly meeting with delegates from other St. Louis-area churches to consider legislation to be presented at the annual convention.  the annual diocesan convention in November.

Time Commitment: Two hours a month plus 2 days in November.  

 

Trinity Food Ministry: TFM provides pantry goods and meals to our neighbors four days each week. 

Time Commitment: Depending on your level of availability and interests, volunteers can serve one or two days a week or a month or three or four times a year. An easy way to check it out is to sign up to help when Trinity is responsible for preparing and serving the Sunday Hot Lunch.  

 

The Arts Committee: The Arts Committee organizes outings to art events and coordinates exhibitions in the Parish Gallery.

Time Commitment: One meeting per quarter.

 

Eucharistic Visitor: Teams of Eucharistic Visitors take consecrated elements to congregation members who, by reason of illness or infirmity, are unable to attend Eucharist at the church. 

Time Commitment: One Sunday a month.

 

Choir:  The choir performs during the 10:30 service.  

Time Commitment: 1.5 hour rehearsal on Wednesday evenings, warm up on Sunday mornings at 9:30, and performance at the 10:30 service.  

 

Sunday School Teacher:  Lead Sunday School during the 10:30 service using a curriculum called Godly Play.

Time Commitment: One Sunday per month.

 

Acolytes: Acolytes serve at the altar as torch bearers, crucifers (carrying the cross), and thurifers (using the thurible) during services.

Time Commitment: Services as scheduled.

 

Lectors: Lectors read the first and second lessons during the 10:30 service.

Time Commitment: Services as scheduled.

 

Intercessors: Intercessors lead the congregation in the Prayers of the People during the 10:30 service.

Time Commitment: Services as scheduled.
 

Sacristans: Sacristans prepare the altar and church for services.  

Time Commitment: One weekend a month, for about an hour on Saturday morning, about 15 minutes between services, and about 15 minutes after the 10:30 services.  There will be opportunities to assist during Holy Week and funerals.  

 

Greeters and Ushers: Greeters welcome people to services and offer useful information to those attending for the first time. Ushers perform a variety of roles throughout the service.  

Time commitment: One Sunday each month.  

 

Pastoral Care Committee:  The Committee meets after the 10:30 service once a month with the Rector to address the pastoral needs of parish members. 

Time Commitment: One meeting per month.

 

Parish interviewers:  We’re looking for one or more people to conduct interviews of people in the parish and/or wider community and then present a history, either in writing or during announcements.  

Time Commitment: This is a new volunteer opportunity with flexible expectations.

 

Communications/social media coordinator: This is a new position with flexible expectations.
